The Israeli authorities have obliged foreign tourists to present a paper visa - insert B2 - when checking into hotels to avoid paying VAT on their accommodation and additional services. Information about this in the mailing list for partners spread network "Isrotel". The new order is valid from October 25.

As the experts explained, the Russian tourists receive such an insert when entering the country. And now, if it is not provided to hotel staff, the hotel has the right to invoice VAT payment - in the amount of 17% of the cost of accommodation and additional services.

“This document, in fact, is now the only evidence that the hotel is a tourist. Probably, this decision is due to the fact that many Israelis have dual citizenship and often leave from paying tax, presenting their second passport, ”- comment on the situation in the company ICS Travel Group.

We add that under Israeli law, tourist services for foreign citizens are subject to zero VAT. These include overnight stays in hotels, food and drinks, use of the pool, renting a private car, transfer for excursions, etc.
