May and Christmas weekends corrected
People's deputies made a Catholic Christmas on the list of holidays and non-working days in the Labor Code of Ukraine on December 25, excluding the day off on May 2 from this list. For the corresponding bill (No. 5496) on the introduction of a change in Article 73 of the Labor Code, 238 people's deputies voted for the basis and as a whole at the plenary meeting on Thursday.
Thus, the parliamentarians supplemented the list of holidays and non-working days on December 25th.
"With the adoption of this bill, Christmas will be celebrated twice in Ukraine - according to the Gregorian calendar on December 25 and on Julian - on January 7," said the head of the committee on social policy Lyudmila Denisova (the People's Front faction) during the bill's consideration.
Rada passed a bill on attracting investments by issuers. People's deputies voted this legislative initiative, taking into account the amendment voiced by Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andrei Parubiy on exclusion from the list of holiday and non-working days on May 2.
According to the decision, only May 1 is Labor Day. The law enters into force on the day following the day of publication.
