Centenary of the Renaissance
One of the French regions, famous for its vineyards and castles, in 2019 will hold more than 500 events in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Renaissance. This writes Franceinfo.
Next year, one of the most famous castles of France - the royal Chambord in the Loire Valley - will celebrate its 500th anniversary. At the same time, two more memorable dates will be celebrated - 500 years since the death of Leonardo Da Vinci and the 500th anniversary of the Renaissance. In honor of these events will be more than half a thousand public events. The authorities hope that a large number of tourists will come to the celebrations in the region.
As part of the celebration program, exhibitions, excursions to heritage sites, balls, concerts, international scientific symposia will be held in the region. In the Chambord castle, architects, artists and winemakers have already begun work that will highlight the magic of this place. In addition, the castle administration plans to open a large exhibition with the works of Leonardo da Vinci. The President of the Region Center - Loire Valley, François Bonnot, noted that in 2019 the region will turn into a territory of creativity and will become attractive for ecological and cultural tourism.
The local authorities expressed the hope that the celebrations would also attract Russian tourists. For guests from our country, the royal castle of Clos Luce in Amboise, in which the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci is located, will appear audio guides in Russian.
The Laura Valley region crosses France from southeast to northwest. Before the advent of Versailles, the country residences of the king and his courtiers were located here. On its territory there are about 60 castles open for public visits. Chateau Chambord is located 14 kilometers from the city of Blois. Leonardo da Vinci took part in the construction project of the castle. Chambord is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, as is the whole Laura Valley in general.
